Whitstable

Whitstable is a small fishing town in the south east. It was famous during Victorian times for its oysters - the oysters served at Trinity May Ball come from Whitstable. It also has some fantastic sunsets.

Pubs

Lots and lots to chose from including:

Old Neptune:

Located in the middle of the beach.

Pearsons Arm’s

Next to the beach, good food.

Duke of Cumberland

Good for live music.

Restaurants

Samphire: Favourite of Charlotte’s family

Royal Native Oyster Stores: Right on the beach, near the Pearson’s Arm’s.

Wheelers Oyster Bar: Tiny place but worth it if you can get a seat.

Local Attractions

During the summer locals spend their time sitting on the beach, sitting outside a pub on the beach and maybe going for a walk on the beach. The best place to do this is between the harbour and the Old Neptune. For swimming, if you dare brave the cold, the beach is steeper between the harbour and Tankerton, which is also a nice walk. Also on that stretch of beach is The Street, a spit of beach pointing out into the sea, which can be seen and walked down at low tide.

Celebrity Spotting

Peter Cushing used to live in Whitstable before he passed away.

The Tudor Tea Rooms has a sign over the seat he always used to sit in.

Suggs from Madness lives in Chestfield, and can sometimes be seen scowling around town. Harry Hill has a house here, as does Ross Kemp, while Bob Geldof lives up the road in Faversham.
